This

Opportunity

We are seeking a Daytime Emergency Response (ER) Technician to support field operations involving both hazardous and non-hazardous materials. In this role, you will be a critical part of maintaining operational readiness while providing both logistical and hands-on support to the Industrial Services (IS) Program and Facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Site Supervisor for daytime Emergency Response (ER) services, with occasional flexibility in daily work hours as needed. Time is typically split between ER activities (about 50%), preparation and logistical support for IS projects (25%), and overhead duties such as equipment maintenance and training (25%).
  • Respond to and conduct appropriate hands‑on ER cleanup activities for incidents involving hazardous and non‑hazardous materials to air, soil, surface and groundwater so they are performed in an efficient, safe and professional manner.
  • Provide support to the waste transport and disposal (T&D) team for both emergency response (ER) projects and regular waste T&D services. Efficiently organize waste disposal operations in collaboration with internal and external clients to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Support setup and preparation for IS/ER projects, including staging equipment and supplies, tracking equipment and inventory usage, transporting and restocking rental equipment, and performing decontamination spot checks as needed.
  • Conduct sampling and monitoring of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and wastes so that collected data is reliable and trustworthy.
  • Prepare daily diaries, reports, field sketches, waste disposal documentation, post‑incident closure reports of moderate complexity. Complete other documentation as needed to ensure all actions undertaken during an ER are accurate.
  • Perform routine maintenance and service on equipment used for projects to ensure it remains in proper working condition.
  • Maintain and train on ER and Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO) equipment to ensure it is used correctly and kept in proper working condition.
  • Complete various IS/ER activities, including equipment checks and other assigned tasks, as directed by the ER Manager, IS Operations Manager, and/or Field Service Managers (FSM).
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and leadership to support efficient completion of daily tasks, promptly address safety concerns, and share opportunities for improving service.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and comply with all safety, employee, and HR policies, procedures and practices so that assigned responsibilities are performed in a manner which meets Bay West expectation.
  • Actively participate on an after‑hour On‑Call ER team — approximately one week every six to eight weeks.
  • Occasionally assist as a Field Technician on IS service projects.
  • Occasionally perform out‑of‑town projects lasting 2‑5 days.
  • Occasionally work on Saturday or Sunday.
