The Public Works Traffic Operations Division is hiring an Electrician to perform electrical work involving the construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communications systems.

Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical work involving the construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communications systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and install instruments, apparatus, and equipment, including high and low-voltage and fiber optic systems.
  • Install, maintain, and test electrical equipment used in operating a variety of equipment such as traffic signals, streetlights, pumps, microprocessors, control panels, and transformers.
  • Apply electrical expertise in facility construction, maintenance, and repair. Utilize aerial personal lifts, ladders, and manual tools.
  • Adhere to OSHA requirements and established safety policies and practices.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Vacancy Information

Currently, there are vacancies for both day and evening shifts, with occasional after-hours callbacks. These positions will also be required to assist with plowing during snow emergencies.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a Class A journey-level electrician's license issued by the State of Minnesota.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
  • For Public Works positions:
    Must possess and maintain a valid Class B or A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions for airbrakes. No suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the two-year period prior to the date of appointment.
  • Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
