Facilities HVAC Technician
This role supports a 200,000 square foot, three-building campus by performing a wide range of preventative and proactive maintenance tasks on facility and HVAC equipment. The technician operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs HVAC systems while also assisting with general facility maintenance and providing responsive customer service to building occupants and contractors.
Responsibilities- Perform routine inspections and monitoring of HVAC and facility equipment to prevent failures and ensure reliable operation.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of HVAC systems, including building-wide heating and cooling equipment.
- Utilize building automation systems to monitor, adjust, and optimize HVAC performance across the campus.
- Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to receive, track, and document work orders and maintenance activities.
- Maintain and service refrigerant systems, pumps, fans, chillers, and rooftop units (RTUs).
- Perform general facilities tasks such as drywall patching, basic carpentry, and other minor building repairs as needed.
- Assist with plumbing-related tasks and HVAC-related installations as required.
- Provide professional customer service to building occupants, responding promptly to comfort and maintenance requests.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and a lead or supervisor to coordinate maintenance activities and project work.
- Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of HVAC experience.
- Strong hands-on skills in HVAC operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on HVAC and facility equipment.
- Ability to use and interpret building automation systems.
- Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for work orders and documentation.
- Experience with refrigerant systems, pumps, fans, chillers, and rooftop units (RTUs).
- General facilities maintenance skills, including drywall patching and basic carpentry.
- Customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with building occupants and contractors.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills & Qualifications
- EPA Universal certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Experience working in a commercial facility environment.
- Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment.
- Basic plumbing experience.
- Experience with painting and general building upkeep.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a lead or supervisor in a team environment.
You will join a stable facilities maintenance team that supports a large, modern campus with a diverse range of HVAC and building systems, offering opportunities to broaden your technical skills. The role provides consistent daytime hours with a predictable schedule, while on-call duties offer additional experience and exposure. You will work closely with an experienced lead or supervisor, gaining mentorship and support as you take on varied responsibilities.

This position is based on a 200,000 square foot, three-building campus that includes approximately 300 HVAC units and supports around 200 employees. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with on-call responsibilities as needed to support facility operations. You will work closely with a lead or supervisor and collaborate with contractors and other maintenance personnel. The role involves working both indoors and outdoors around mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occupied office or facility spaces, using building automation systems, CMMS tools, and standard HVAC and maintenance equipment.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Little Canada, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
