Job Description:
Position Objective Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery. Ensures plant equipment is properly maintained to support safe, efficient, and reliable production.
Key Responsibilities Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility machinery and material handling systems
Maintain spare parts inventory, including determining appropriate stocking levels and ordering parts from vendors and catalogs
Install, maintain, and repair conveyors, bucket elevators, screw conveyors, forklifts, front-end loaders, and sweepers
Change bearings, belts, and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyors
Clean and service pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines and maintain a clean work area Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
Conduct inspections and basic maintenance on non-ferrous metal detectors
Troubleshoot and maintain sorting computer systems (Windows-based); create and maintain software and parameter backups
Weld, fabricate, and repair components, including patching holes in steel chutes and transitions
Perform rigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy components
Communicate equipment issues effectively with mechanics and supervisors across shifts
Maintain, secure, and properly use tools and equipment
Complete daily maintenance and repair logs and support the preventive maintenance (PM) program
Provide on-the-job training to new employees
Serve as backup support for maintenance technicians as needed
Participate in problem-solving efforts and support maintenance-related projects
Work collaboratively as a team member and provide leadership when required
Work a flexible schedule, including various shifts and days, as business needs dictate
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
Advanced mechanical and basic electrical maintenance skills
Welding and fabrication experience
Strong communication skills
Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)
Knowledge & Experience
Experience with mechanical conveyor systems
Ability to communicate in English and Spanish (required in some locations)
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles
Electronic systems experience (preferred)
Glass processing experience (preferred)
PLC experience (preferred)
Working Conditions Exposure to dusty and noisy environments on a periodic basis
Combination of light, moderate, and heavy physical activity
Work involves technical and hands-on maintenance tasks
Physical Requirements Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs (up to 50% of the time)
Walking or standing up to 75% of the workday
Regular use of hands for handling tools, machinery, welding equipment, and mechanical parts
Fine motor skills required for operating machinery, tools, and computer equipment
