• Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of either the tank farms or the various operating units within the refinery.
• Conduct periodic rounds, performing the following duties:
  • Monitoring equipment and recording readings.
  • Making required adjustments.
  • Troubleshooting process and equipment problems, including general equipment checks and detecting unusual operating conditions (noises, abnormal temperature or pressure, leaks).
  • Detecting and responding to process upsets and emergency situations, including firefighting, equipment isolation, and evacuation.
• Wear all personal protective equipment (P.P.E.), including a self‑contained breathing apparatus, and participate in emergency response activities.
• Learn refining process operations, tank farm product movement/loading operations, and qualify on process/tank farm/loading jobs.
• Work up to and including the console operator position (control refinery process through a computer system).
• Work inside and outside, in differing climatic conditions, and around noises, heat, heights and equipment associated with working in and around an oil refinery.

Responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the refinery and work rotating 12‑hour shifts. The refinery operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

Starting pay is $35.08 per hour during the new hire training period, with potential to progress to $51.04 per hour and up to $54.96 per hour. Rates receive scheduled annual pay rate increases and eligibility for an annual bonus program. Marathon provides a competitive benefits package that includes a 401(k) company match of $1.17 for every $1.00 contributed, up to 6% of an employee’s gross pay, participation in a cash balance pension plan, health, vision and dental insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, and educational reimbursement.

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) and Boiler’s License.
• Pass pre‑employment online tests, work demonstration test, physical abilities test, and physical exam.
• Basic math, reading, writing, and verbal skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to learn complex refinery‑related material.
• Ability to climb over 75 feet and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Anticipated start date is March 2026.
