Job Summary:
The Service Technician Vet delivers post‑sale services at customer sites, including setup, maintenance, and repair of products and services to ensure all function properly. This role performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on installed products, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving malfunctions. This role is also accountable for ensuring customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations that may favorably impact performance and providing user training on new products.
Functions
- Independently respond to assigned customer service calls; diagnose problems and safely remove, modify, repair, and install all core veterinary equipment with minimal supervision.
- Learn and follow manufacturer guidelines on the operation, repair, maintenance and installation of equipment.
- Inspect pre-installed products for any defects or damages, and conduct final post-installation inspections to ensure proper operation and compliance with manufacturer, Federal, and State regulations.
- Maintain strong and supportive customer relationships by providing technical support after initial installation of equipment, PC software, and hardware and ensuring that service commitments are met within standard response times.
- Verify specific manufacturer and Patterson guidelines, OSHA and other applicable laws and regulations are followed.
- Maintain all required records (service orders, confirmations, inventory, expense reports, timesheets, equipment related items) timely and accurately.
- Comply with company and department policies and standards; perform other duties as assigned.
- Establish and maintain productive, mutually beneficial relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Inventory Management: determine parts, supplies or tools needed to complete service requests; manage vehicle inventory through regular restocking and audits.
- Personal/Vehicle Safety: maintain a quality driving record; schedule proper vehicle maintenance regularly to ensure a safe fleet.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of all company-provided assets, including vehicle, phone, computer, parts, equipment, tools, and uniforms.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2 years of relevant work experience in mechanical/carpentry/plumbing/heating/electrical/electronic related fields.
- Trade school training in carpentry/plumbing/heating/electrical/electronic is highly desirable.
- Previous experience servicing and installing x-ray equipment.
- SAP experience.
- Ability to thrive in an independent role with excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; listens attentively and asks questions when necessary.
- Ability to explain technical aspects of technology to a non‑technical audience using general terminology.
- Requires basic computer skills and ability to use smartphone/tablet.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Teams is helpful.
- Ability to respond to difficult situations and demanding people and deliver negative information in a way that enhances relationships.
- Driver’s License upon hire required.
- Certified, Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technician.
