Essentia Health is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to ensure safe, reliable operation of our healthcare facilities. In this role, you will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems to support patient care. You will troubleshoot equipment issues, respond to service calls, and maintain documentation within a CMMS. The Maintenance Engineer collaborates closely with clinical and support teams, follows all safety and regulatory standards, and helps plan improvements that enhance comfort, efficiency, and compliance across the campus.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and urgent service calls to minimize downtime in patient care areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Operate and monitor building automation, emergency power, and life safety systems for reliability and compliance.
  • Document work in the CMMS, including parts used, labor time, and maintenance history.
  • Ensure all activities meet regulatory, safety, and infection-prevention standards in a healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with clinical and support staff to schedule work with minimal disruption to patients.
  • Assist with facility inspections, testing, and readiness for regulatory surveys.
  • Support minor construction, renovation, and equipment installation projects as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, system reliability, and preventive maintenance programs.
