ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
Women’s Advocates is a safe place where people of all backgrounds and cultures can escape domestic violence and begin to heal. In addition to providing shelter to those who are homeless as a result of domestic violence, Women’s Advocates provides personalized support, advocacy, education, and resources to hundreds of adults and children every year. Women’s Advocates offers shelter, meals, clothing, transportation, personal needs items, counseling, support, advocacy, referral, crisis phone, and other basic services daily.

- 1. Every other Sunday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
- 2. Every Sunday from 3:00 p.m. till 11:00 p.m.
- 3. Every Friday overnight from 11:00 p.m. Friday until 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning
- 4. Every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
- 5. Every other Saturday overnight from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
- Screens and assesses each caller for immediate safety needs;
- Develops safety plans over the phone and in person;
- Provides callers with referrals for orders for protection and harassment orders;
- Assists callers to secure shelter space through the Day One database system;
- Refers callers to the address confidentiality program;
- Provides resources for legal, medical, financial, housing and education services;
- Assists with Live Chat;
- Complies with all security and safety protocols;
- Available to all residents for counseling & advocacy;
- Keeps resident needs items stocked in front office & provides them upon request;
- Documents and tracks all calls and resources provided to each caller;
- Documents and tracks all resources provided by CRAs to residents;
- Maintains documentation for the resident transportation program;
- Identifies and participates in various trainings in the area of domestic abuse, case management, crises intervention, data collection and management and/or other trainings or classes that will enhance professional development;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Two years of experience working with vulnerable individuals, families and children.
- Extensive knowledge of local resources
- 2 years of experience with managing crisis call
- Ability to be available for on‑call coverage on short notice
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good computer skills with demonstrated ability in Microsoft office products and database entry.
- Ability to prioritize, handle a variety of tasks and be self‑directed.
- Ability to handle client, administrative and personnel information with complete confidentiality.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Be able to navigate an environment with lots of stairs.
- Ability to work effectively across difference.
- Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to intercultural development and anti‑racism work in the workplace.
- If driving for WA, valid driver’s license is required.
- Criminal background check is required for this position.
- Second language preferred.
