Social Worker - Focus Beyond

Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) is hiring a full‑time Social Worker for the Focus Beyond program in St. Paul, MN. The position is open for a 10‑month, full‑time assignment (40 hours per week).

Focus Beyond Transition Services serves students aged 18–22. The role involves supporting students with disabilities to achieve independence through functional academics, behavior management, and community resource coordination.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (Master’s strongly preferred)
• Current Minnesota Board of Social Work License
• Valid School Social Work License issued by the Minnesota Department of Education

• Positive behavioral interventions
• Group counseling techniques with children and/or youth
• Community resources and social services
• Diagnosis and treatment of mental health concerns
• Competent social work services, crisis intervention, and referral services for diverse populations
• Formal and informal assessments consistent with school‑based practice
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

• Assess student functioning formally and informally using multi‑source data
• Provide social work services to individuals, groups, and families
• Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop intervention strategies
• Mobilize and coordinate family, school, and community resources to maximize educational benefits
• Facilitate problem‑solving meetings between families and the school
• Provide crisis intervention for students
• Consult about home, neighborhood, and community conditions affecting student well‑being
• Serve as a resource for identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect
• Act as school contact for homeless students
• Collaborate with community agencies and mental health professionals to coordinate services
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams and staff supervision meetings
• Assist in resolving truancy concerns
• Maintain records per District practices
• Engage in due process procedures when serving Special Education students
• Uphold ethical standards of the Social Work profession
• Contribute to the District’s Strong Schools, Strong Communities initiatives
• Perform related duties such as program development, supervision of teaching assistants, program management for students with emotional and behavioral disorders, and resource development

10‑month position, 40 hours per week. Salary range: $59,756 – $113,627. Maximum hiring step:
Step 20. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, pension, sick leave, and vacation time, per the Teachers contract.
