About the Job
This is a full-time (100%), 12 month, annual renewable academic professional/administrative staff appointment.
This is a new position that will support Care Team services, specifically with brief, non-clinical case management. Work will involve student cases at varying risk levels with the opportunity to progressively take on more complex work with experience and comfortability. The Coordinator utilizes a student development approach in supporting the students they work with.
The successful candidate must be interested in providing support to students managing stress or experiencing crises through offering direct student support and resource referrals.
The successful candidate will support students through matters including but not limited to death or serious illness of a family member; medical illness/injury/hospitalization; mental health related concerns; financial hardship/distress; increased stress or other unexpected difficulties; and more.
Finally, the successful candidate will work well with a team of other non-clinical case managers through positive relation building, effective team collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
Work may be completed in a hybrid environment, with direction from OSA leadership. Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.
Job responsibilities Non-clinical Case Management (70%)- Provide follow-up support to faculty, staff, and student reporters involving students in distress
- Conduct outreach and develop detailed action plans and/or interventions for students in distress
- Provide effective communication and organized collaboration amongst key University departments, faculty, staff, community agencies, and facilities
- Collect, evaluate, and record all facts pertaining to students' cases, utilizing the Maxient database
- Provide referrals to support services within the University as well as community agencies
- Follow up on prior cases to ensure compliance with recommendations
- Collaborate closely with Coordinators, Assistant Directors, and Director of Care and Student Advocate Services on case assignments
- Other duties as assigned
- Review and analyze data for Care and Student Advocacy Services in close collaboration with the Director
- Prepare for Student Service Fee annual requests in close collaboration with the Director
- Schedule and manage meetings and/or hearing schedules with students
- Create and maintain confidential and private case files using Maxient
- Assist with annual budgeting and presentation process
- Assist with marketing and outreach to student groups and campus partners
- Provide feedback on unit growth and development
- Participate in shared work or individual project work, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Participate in threat assessments for students exhibiting threats to themselves or others in the community
- Write thorough threat assessment reports that capture detailed information used to determine student safety & wellness outcomes
- Engage in conversations with Care Team, Behavioral Consultation Team, and campus partners on de-escalating strategies to reduce threats to self or others
- Other duties as assigned
- BA/BS plus at least 4 years of relevant experience OR master's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion work or working with diverse populations of people
- Demonstrated experience with conflict management or conduct processes
- Demonstrated experience with people in crisis or distress
- Strong verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field
- Experience with Title IX in higher education
- Highly organized, proactive, strong ability to assist others in navigating through complex situations
- Nonclinical case management experience
