Description
The City of New Brighton is offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on varied experience in the Parks and Recreation field. This position will assist parks and recreation staff with a variety of programs, special events and facilities management. Candidates will gain experience working with the community volunteers managing staff budgets and more.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with the marketing and public relations of recreation programs and Community Center facilities.
  • Assist with the planning, development, and implement recreation programs.
  • Assist with the recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, and evaluating of program staff.
  • Assists with the coordination of staff training and support.
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and coaching required to ensure quality of programs and facility management.
  • Assist with monitoring a program budget including direct and indirect program, operation, and supply costs.
  • Conduct evaluations of recreation programs and facilities.
  • Attend staff, commission, and council meetings as assigned and attend staff training, educational workshops, and conferences when appropriate.
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as apparent of assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow deadlines.
  • Experience with any of the following software programs:
    Civic Rec;
    Civic Engage;
    Adobe Suite.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and techniques.
  • Must be able to operate assigned equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year or more of experience working in a public parks and recreation agency.
  • Essential responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time indoors and outdoors.
