Swim Instructor PT

We are hiring multiple swimming instructors with experience teaching swimming lessons on weekends, with more opportunities and hours in the summer!

Swim Instructors will work various shifts teaching private and group swim lessons; and assist with opening and closing the pool and facility. Swim Instructors will follow techniques and create lesson plans for progressive swimming lessons. Swim Instructors are responsible for providing swimming instruction to all ages, following YWCA St Paul swim lesson guidelines while providing excellent customer service, promoting member safety and satisfaction, and ensuring an enjoyable experience.

Swim Instructors will monitor the activities of swimmers and pool attendees, ensure safety and maintaining order.

• Instruct individual and group swim lessons at all levels (parent-tot to adult), with the ability to demonstrate skills
• Regularly communicate with parent/guardian regarding progress updates
• Evaluate students and recommend placements for future classes
• Know and understand all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately
• Understand and communicate policies and guidelines for the pool and whirlpool
• Assist with organizing, cleaning and maintenance of the pool, deck, locker rooms, and lifeguard room
• Administer first aid as needed
• Maintain records as required (attendees, progress reports, etc.), and complete all required administrative work

• Minimum age of 15 with the ability to teach groups up to 9 students
• Experience teaching swimming lessons, experience participating on a swim team or a certification
• Flexibility in combining multiple ages, levels, and abilities, as needed
• Demonstrated ability to recognize and remedy unsafe situations and swimmers needing assistance
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with all ages
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with diverse groups
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service to members and guests

• Swim Instructor Certification, or equivalent preferred.
• Lifeguard certification is a plus
• CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification preferred

The pay range for this position is $16-$17.50 per hour based on experience.
