Part-Time Personal Trainer

YWCA St. Paul is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. We are hiring part-time Personal Trainers to work up to 20 hours per week, with the ability to build clientele and receive more hours.

YWCA St Paul personal trainers develop and provide individualized training that is educational, motivational, with a high level of customer service to members and participants. They are responsible for promoting and selling personal training programs and services within the health club software.

Responsibilities
  • Personal Training & Member Support – 95%
  • Greet and engage members, guests, and program participants in a warm, professional, and mission-aligned manner
  • Conduct fitness assessments, review goals, and provide individualized recommendations
  • Deliver safe, effective, and motivating one-on-one personal training sessions
  • Lead small-group training sessions and specialty classes that build community and support member progress
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, client progress, and administrative hours
  • Promote personal training services, specialty programs, and wellness offerings to support member engagement and retention
  • Provide guidance on equipment use, exercise technique, and safe training practices
  • Monitor the fitness floor for safety, cleanliness, and proper equipment function; restock supplies and report concerns
  • Support member questions related to training, programs, and general fitness center operations
  • Represent YWCA St. Paul’s values by creating an inclusive, empowering, and welcoming environment for individuals of all backgrounds
  • Perform opening or closing duties as assigned
  • Complete additional responsibilities as needed to support the Health & Fitness Center
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 6 months of experience in personal training, fitness instruction, coaching, or related customer-facing roles
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional service and support to members and clients
  • Confidence and comfort engaging prospective training clients and discussing program options
  • Clear and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, identities, and fitness levels
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to member needs
  • High attention to detail with consistent accuracy in documentation and client records
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn scheduling systems, databases, and fitness-center software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information with professionalism
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and accountability in all assigned duties
Required Certifications
  • NASM CPT, ACE CPT, ISSA, ACSM, etc.
  • Nationally recognized CPR Certification

The pay range for this position is $25-$35 per hour based on experience.
