Summer hours are Monday
- Thursday 6:30am
-4:30pm, Friday 6:00am - 10:00am )
Winter hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; or a snow and ice shift, 12:00 am - 12:00 pm (A shift) or 12:00 pm - 12:00 am (B shift). During snow & ice operations employees are split into an A and B shift and will receive 8-hours of work or more depending on the length of the event.
Hours may include overtime or various shifts depending on emergency situations and will include working nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbents must have immediate access to a phone and be able to report to work within one-hour of being called.
Some examples of work for this position are listed below but not limited to the following:
Function:
Road Surface/Roadway Maintenance
+ Perform all activities required for roadside maintenance
+ Perform all roadway surface maintenance activities
+ Service and make minor repairs to operating equipment
+ Provide traffic control
+ Perform basic construction monitoring duties and basic inspection activities
+ Other duties as required
Function:
Sign Maintenance
+ Installs, repairs, and removes permanent signs and messages.
+ Installs emergency and temporary signing on detours, constructions projects and other emergency projects.
+ Installs message painting/taping.
+ Stakes sign locations and conducts Gopher One Calls.
+ Conducts field sign inspections.
+ Determines proper traffic control layout and performs traffic control.
+ Maintains a history of signs using a sign management system.
+ Tracks sign inventory so that signs are ordered and material is on hand.
+ Perform winter maintenance activities related to snow and ice operations.
+ Operates and performs maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
Function:
Snow and Ice
+ Maintains roadways for snow and ice control
+ Prepares and inspects winter equipment
+ Performs preseason snow route inspection and performs post storm cleanup
+ Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals
+ Performs all work related to installing, repairing, maintaining, and removing snow fences; replacing mailboxes
+ Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for accurate reporting of inventory and resource management
+ Performs traffic control set-ups and/or provides notification to dispatch of disabled vehicles

* Exam Part 1: The level of experience to perform this job at the

** level can be achieved with:
*** Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License with no Air Brake Restriction and obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with no Air Brake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 5-months of placement into the position** .
**(You may be required to obtain a Tanker Endorsement sooner than 5-months.)
** The incumbent will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. New employees must pass a pre-placement drug test for evidence of use of marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP) and amphetamines (MDMA, MDA and MDEA) and acetylmorphine (6-AM). YOU MUST LIST COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH NO AIR BRAKE RESTRICTION AND ANY AND ALL ENDORSEMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS ON YOUR RESUME.
