Regional Shop Logistic Coordinator / State Program Administrator, Technical Specialist

Job Summary

Supports the DNR Fleet Program in the Central Region by coordinating vehicle services for internal and external customers. Performs logistical support and mechanical work as necessary, such as maintenance scheduling, and provides work direction to mechanics and other shop personnel. Also responsible for ordering and inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate receiving and upfitting of new fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with ordering and installation of specialized equipment needed by the division.
  • Ensure delivered items meet purchase order specifications.
  • Coordinate placement of fleet equipment with internal customers.
  • Assist Regional Fleet Supervisor and shop staff with maintenance and repairs in accordance with DNR standards and DOT regulations.
  • Serve as backup for the Regional Fleet Supervisor for repair approvals and providing work direction to shop mechanics and technicians.
  • Coordinate seasonal loaner program activities, disposal of fleet and non‑fleet assets, and fleet pool vehicle and equipment activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in vehicle maintenance in an automotive shop, capable of performing mechanic work and providing direction to mechanics and shop personnel.
  • Two‑year degree or certificate in maintenance or a closely related field may substitute for six months of experience.
  • Class A Driver License (CDL) required; applicants without one may acquire within six months as a condition of employment.
  • Passing a pre‑employment drug screen and participation in DNR ongoing random screening program.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and equipment safety principles and shop hazardous materials management.
  • Knowledge of equipment repairs and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to obtain MIP Certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain the following ASE Certifications within six months of hire: C1 Automotive Service Consultant, P2 Automobile Parts Specialist.
  • Analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, including under pressure or emergency situations.
  • Ability to identify corrective actions and recommend alternative solutions.
  • Organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to communicate expectations and requirements to internal and external customers.
  • Computer skills to develop, modify and utilize reports in a database format (M5 database) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A two‑year degree or certificate in maintenance or closely related field.
  • Current ASE certifications (C1, P2).
  • Knowledge of the State's policies, procedures, and state laws regarding purchasing and contracting.
  • Knowledge of state and federal DOT rules and regulations.
Additional Requirements
  • Class A license required; must be current or acquired within first six months of employment.
  • Pre‑employment drug screen and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing as per DNR Fleet Policy.
  • Must meet physical requirements and work in environmental conditions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license to operate equipment and vehicles on behalf of the Agency.
  • Will be subject to background check including conflict of interest, criminal history, education verification, employment reference/records check, and license/certification verification.
