Transportation Supervisor

Quality Custom Distribution is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to work at our Roseville Facility in Minnesota. Job functions include working holidays, weekly pay, benefits, and career advancement opportunities. Competitive salary, DOE ($64k - $85k yearly). Job duties include understanding DOT rules and regulations, great communication skills, knowledge working with CDL A drivers, use of warehouse management systems to monitor, replenish, inventory, loading, and dispatching routes.

Strong leadership skills, work ethics, and positive attitude are key. We are looking for a strong Transportation Supervisor with good leadership skills, communication skills, relationship builder, multi-tasker, coach, fair and consistent management style, strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), ability to use various platforms for information management (handheld scanners, phones, electronic log devices, etc.). Experience with Omnitracs and/or Samsara a plus.

Experience using warehouse management systems, ability to coach, train, and handle day-to-day disputes, punctual, on time, and understand and align with our creed and values. No employment gaps within the last year, and they have 5 years of recent employment history. Food distribution or similar distribution Supervisor experience preferred. CDL A license a plus but not required. Excel savvy and systems savvy experience preferred.

Job Summary:

Supervises day-to-day transportation functions to ensure driver performance, customer satisfaction, and that Department and Company objectives for efficiency, reliability, and productivity are met or exceeded. Essential functions include planning, implementing, and monitoring day-to-day transportation operations, reviewing and scheduling daily routing of equipment and manpower, resolving equipment failures or breakdowns, motivating employees, supervising employees, updating routing programs, and performing other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Leadership/management responsibility includes supervising up to 100 or more employees, overseeing operations with significant impact on GSF customer relations. Performance categories include budget, driver performance, customer and vendor relationships, DOT compliance, teamwork within the department and across departments, customer satisfaction, safety of employees, safety of facility and transportation equipment, and AIB rating.

Minimum qualifications include education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in management, business, or psychology from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

3 to 6 years of work experience in transportation or food distribution, including supervisory responsibilities and union work environments. Knowledge of DOT regulations, policies, and procedures, labor contracts and labor union environment, on-board computer systems, relevant safety policies, practices and procedures, management/supervisory concepts and techniques, project management concepts and techniques, budgetary concepts and procedures, PC word-processing/spreadsheet software applications, scheduling and routing, computer-based routing systems, shipment and distribution of food or allied products, regional geography and customer locations.

Skill and ability to supervise a diverse workforce of up to 100 employees, resolve and report delivery issues between drivers and customers, other customer service issues, supervise and motivate employees in a team-based environment, interpret transportation operations anomalies and identify appropriate solutions, prepare administrative and technical documents and reports, work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service, travel via airplane and drive an automobile, act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed.
