Material Handler, Forklift Operator
MalaceHR is seeking Warehouse Worker for warehouse setting in St. Paul, MN.
Monday-Friday, 6a-2:30p or 7a-3:30p, latest 4pm out time, no weekends required.
What this job involves:As a Hazmat Material Handling/Warehouse Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient management of laboratory waste streams and shipping operations for our client. This position combines environmental health and safety expertise with logistics coordination, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to regulatory compliance. You'll be responsible for managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste from collection through shipping preparation, while also coordinating daily package distribution operations across the campus.
Your work directly supports our client's research operations by maintaining a safe laboratory environment and ensuring seamless material flow, contributing to company commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship.
- Process and manage waste requests in the client's waste stream profile system, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance documentation
- Transport 5-gallon and 55-gallon containers of hazardous and non-hazardous laboratory waste to centralized building locations, including designated 90-day hazardous waste storage rooms
- Inspect, label, close, and palletize drums according to regulatory checklists, ensuring proper bung tightness, bolt placement, manifest numbers, and shipping preparation standards
- Receive, sort, process, and distribute incoming packages and pallets while preparing outbound shipments with proper documentation and coordination with freight suppliers
- Operate motor vehicles within the corporate campus to transport materials, tools, and waste containers to designated locations while following all safety protocols
- Communicate with laboratory occupants and requestors regarding non-compliant waste shipments, compliance issues, and resolution follow-up
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies including labels, liners, zip ties, pallets, and shipping materials while keeping work areas clean and organized
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License
- High school diploma or equivalent with strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Demonstrated experience in shipping/receiving, logistics coordination, or warehouse operations with attention to regulatory compliance
- Physical capability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and perform tasks involving lifting, bending, twisting, and extended periods of physical activity
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with proven customer service abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple work streams, priorities, and strict timelines with high degree of accuracy
- Understanding of material handling equipment operation and workplace safety regulations including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Previous experience handling hazardous waste, laboratory materials, or regulated shipments in an educational, research, or industrial setting
- Familiarity with DOT hazardous materials regulations, waste stream profiling systems, or environmental compliance documentation
- Experience with handheld scanning devices, shipping label systems, or warehouse management software platforms
- OSHA safety training certifications or hazardous materials handling credentials (will do if doesn’t already have)
- Forklift or material handling equipment certification
- Knowledge of 90-day hazardous waste storage requirements and EPA/state environmental regulations
- Experience working in laboratory, pharmaceutical, or research facility environments
