Overview
Position:
Manufacturing Engineer – PWAA (Pratt & Whitney Auto Air). PWAA is looking for a manufacturing engineer to assist in day-to-day operations, focused on lean values, automation, continuous improvement, and root cause corrective action. This role supports operations at multiple sites across Lansing and Holt, MI.
- Plans sequences of operations, estimates time required, and writes process sheets and bills of materials.
- Determines from part drawings and engineering data the manufacturing methods and processes for fabrication and assembly of complex products.
- Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, and material, including make-or-buy decisions and facility layout for new or revised products.
- Investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing problems and provides technical support to operations.
- Consults with design or projects engineering concerning the suitability or producibility of complex molds, fixtures, or parts.
- Provides strategic direction for systems, projects, and programs in area of expertise.
- Contributes to the company and the industry by advancing knowledge within the discipline and provides cross-functional guidance and expertise.
- Typically requires: a university degree or equivalent experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience.
- U.S. Citizen – U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software or similar experience.
- SAP or Solumina experience is desired.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and blueprints; knowledge of composite, metals, and aerospace hardware; understanding of bonding tool design.
- Ability to learn analytical tools (e.g., FTIR, Ultrasonic Inspection) and interpret results; understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement programs (ACE, 6S, KAIZEN, etc.).
- Experience with Design To Cost philosophy and related cost-reduction approaches.

Onsite. Employees in onsite roles work primarily onsite. Candidates may be asked to attend select interview steps in-person at office locations, regardless of role designation.
Salary range: 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD. RTX offers benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, holidays, and other program-specific benefits. Eligibility depends on the specific business unit and whether covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Incentive programs may apply in certain roles and are not guaranteed.
