Position: Senior Consultant (Construction Management)

ESi's Civil and Structural team evaluates, investigates, and restores structures and sites through detailed inspections, engineering research, and advanced analysis. By identifying damage, distress, and failure causes, the team develops practical remediation and repair solutions that restore safety, performance, and reliability across the built environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates forensic investigations and consulting projects related to construction management, construction defects, and contract disputes.
  • Reviews construction documents, contracts, schedules, and project records to evaluate compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Conducts site inspections and evaluates construction practices, quality, and workmanship.
  • Analyzes delay claims, cost overruns, and disputes between owners, contractors, and design professionals.
  • Authors high‑quality technical reports and expert opinions on construction management matters.
  • Provides expert testimony at deposition and trial on construction management and construction defect matters.
  • Conducts well‑developed and well‑prepared client presentations.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
  • Directs and coordinates projects within prescribed schedule and budget scopes.
  • Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
  • Actively participates in Business Development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and appropriate conferences.
  • Mentors earlier‑career employees in growth and development.
Qualifications
  • Education / Certifications / Licenses Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required;
      Master’s degree preferred.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or similar credential preferred.
  • Experience Required
    • 10‑15 years of experience in construction management, construction defect analysis, or forensic consulting.
    • Broad experience in reviewing and evaluating construction contracts, schedules, cost documentation, and quality standards.
    • Track record authoring high‑quality technical reports and/or expert reports; experience providing expert testimony highly desirable.
    • Experience in the consulting industry preferred; established client relationships highly preferred.
  • Other Technical & Non‑Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and construction scheduling/project management software.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with clients in a professional manner and develop business internally and externally.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical and construction concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences.
    • Must be available to travel occasionally as part of the national practice.
