The Sanitation Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and audit-ready manufacturing environment at Cosmos Corporation. This position is responsible for executing the Master Sanitation Schedule to ensure all production areas, equipment, and facility spaces meet regulatory, food safety, and company quality standards.
Through detailed cleaning, proper chemical handling, equipment operation, and proactive inspection, the Sanitation Technician protects product integrity, prevents contamination, and supports the safe production of high-quality pet products. This role requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Regular attendance and schedule flexibility are required. This is a safety-sensitive position and should not be under the influence of any substance.
- Execute the Master Sanitation Schedule to maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready facility environment.
- Ensure all production equipment, warehouse spaces, and common areas meet SQF, HACCP, GMP, and company quality standards.
- Safely handle and manage cleaning chemicals and sanitation supplies in compliance with SDS requirements and regulatory guidelines.
- Operate sanitation equipment and tools safely and effectively to support production readiness and minimize downtime.
- Perform inspections and complete required sanitation documentation accurately and timely.
- Identify and report contamination risks, safety hazards, or equipment concerns to protect product integrity and workplace safety.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and quality teams to support operational efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining sanitation standards and documentation.
- Maintain flexibility to support overtime, alternate shifts, or changing production demands.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math skills sufficient to follow chemical mixing instructions and complete documentation.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to wet conditions, chemicals, and noise.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Stand/walk for extended periods of time, walk upstairs and climb up ladders and walk throughout the facility. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently reaches with hands and arms, including overhead; stoops, bends, kneels, and crouches; and must be able to communicate clearly. Frequently work in wet environments.
The employee must regularly push, or pull, lift, carry, materials and products weighing up to 60 pounds throughout the day, including lifting items overhead. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying and sometimes uncontrolled temperature conditions that are hot, humid and cold, as well as moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
