Join BJC Health Care's Nursing Resources Float Pool, supporting Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital. This opportunity is designed for experienced nurses who enjoy a fast-paced environment, professional flexibility, and the chance to build expertise across multiple care settings.
As a float pool nurse, you'll provide care where your skills are needed most. Assignments may include ICU, Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical Telemetry, and Telemetry units. You'll partner with multidisciplinary teams, care for diverse patient populations, and gain experience that enhances both clinical confidence and career growth. Nurses without ICU or ED experience may be considered for telemetry-focused assignments.
Highlights- Full-time Nights | 7:00 p.m.
- 7:00 a.m. - Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every third weekend and rotating holiday commitment
- Float between Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and Progress West

- Two or more years of acute care nursing experience
- ICU and/or Emergency Department experience preferred
- Telemetry experience
- Peripheral IV insertion competency
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- ADN, BSN, and MSN-prepared nurses encouraged to apply
- Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of patient care environments

Responsibilities- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
