Position: RN House Supervisor (PRN)

Position Overview

Bring your leadership skills beyond the bedside in this PRN House Supervisor opportunity with BJC Health Care. In this hospital-wide role, you'll serve as the on-site nursing leader, supporting staffing operations, patient throughput, and clinical excellence across Barnes St. Peters and Progress West Hospitals.

As a key operational resource, you'll collaborate with nursing leaders, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams while responding to rapid responses, patient concerns, falls, staffing needs, and other hospital-wide priorities. Every shift offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care and hospital operations.

Position Highlights
  • PRN role with a minimum commitment of 2 twelve-hour shifts every 6 weeks
  • Day or night shift opportunities
  • Availability required for one Summer holiday shift and one Winter holiday shift annually
  • Hospital-wide leadership and operational oversight
  • Support staffing coordination, patient flow, and patient safety initiatives

Preferred Experience
  • 2–4+ years of acute care RN experience
  • Previous Charge or House Supervisor experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical‑thinking skills
  • Experience managing patient flow, staffing, and operational challenges
  • ACLS preferred
  • BSN preferred
Responsibilities
  • Manages individuals including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans.
  • Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet or support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Supervises the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care across the organization and responds to special circumstances as the on‑site leader.
  • Assists with patient care operations and integration of services between departments.
  • Supports the clinical development of nursing staff, including observing and coaching staff in clinical duties and interpersonal interactions, and monitoring staff and unit compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Functions as a liaison between Administration and all departments and customers.
  • May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue, and/or expense budgets and has direct responsibility for adhering to those goals.

Education:

  • Nursing Diploma / Associate's

Experience:

  • 2–5 years

Supervisor

Experience:

  • Less than 2 years

Licenses &

Certifications:

  • RN
Preferred Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience:

  • 5–10 years
