. This unique float role offers the opportunity to gain experience across multiple care environments, building clinical confidence and skills alongside experienced caregivers in the Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry units

- PRN, self-scheduled night shift role (minimum 24 hours every 6 weeks)
- Includes 12 weekend hours and holiday rotation
- Night shift schedule: 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
- Same-day assignment model – you know when you work and gain experience across ED, Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry units at Progress West Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital
- Provide care for diverse patient populations while expanding your clinical knowledge across multiple specialties

- Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- Completion of nursing fundamentals with clinical component required

- Initial 3-week full-time training commitment required to support your success in the role before transitioning to the regular schedule.

OverviewBarnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102‑bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.
Barnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio‑pulmonary rehabilitation.
At Barnes‑Jewish St. Peters Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Nursing Resource team takes exceptional care of people by coordinating patient placement and bed management in collaboration with departments, admitting, and physicians.
Preferred Qualifications Role PurposeProvides multi‑skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.
Responsibilities- Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
- Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
- Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
