Job Location:

Remote telework based out of Missouri. The ideal candidate should reside in the Kansas City, St. Louis, or Columbia, MO areas and travel within the state.

Commission members, staff, and contracted service providers take time to develop relationships with each other and the stakeholders we serve—including other public schools and districts—for the benefit of all of Missouri’s young people. The Commission has grown dramatically in recent years. Therefore, the Commission’s operations need to be strengthened with systems and succession planning that allow it to continue functioning at a high level.

  • Provide strategic leadership and accountability for the financial performance of the Commission’s charter school portfolio.
  • Troubleshoot, problem-solve, and anticipate issues that affect operating charter schools’ accountability and autonomy, particularly as it relates to annual budgeting, viability and financial sustainability.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and alignment of financial accountability processes across the Commission.
  • Work with monitoring and accountability staff to continually assess and refine the charter school financial accountability framework, protocols, practices, and related policies to further enhance the evaluation of school performance and annual oversight.
  • Develop and support the execution of the Commission’s training catalogue including but not limited to, application training, Commission 101 for new school leaders, budgeting, etc.
  • Identify and elevate innovative school practices across the portfolio, lead dissemination efforts through reports, events, and professional networks.
  • Assist with school communication and performance reporting.
  • Assist in agency presentations at community meetings, public forums, and state/national conferences on the work of the Commission.
  • Provide written reports, informational memos, correspondence, and other written assignments as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.
Minimum Qualifications

  • A master’s degree from an accredited college in a field related to the position, such as business, political science, public administration, education, research or law and three (3) years successful work experience
OR
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and (5) five years successful work experience.
OR
  • (9) nine years of successful work experience.
