Location: St. Peters
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer I - Contractor to support the modernization and maintenance of a mission-critical enterprise application in AWS.
We need a skilled developer who can balance ongoing modernization with production stability.
You'll support technical design decisions, write code, and establish reusable patterns while collaborating across scrum teams to ensure architectural consistency.
Partnering with enterprise architects and other team members, you'll translate architectural vision into practical implementation strategies.
Responsibilities Hands-On Development- Design and implement microservices using Java/Spring Boot and Type Script for event-driven and RESTful integration patterns
- Build solutions using AWS services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, Event Bridge, RDS, etc.) within a microservice and micro-frontend architecture
- Address technical debt by upgrading outdated dependencies/frameworks
- Other duties as assigned
- Actively support security best practices to remain compliant with the System and guidelines.
- Ensure deployed code is actively scanned by the enterprise scanning tool(s) for vulnerability identification and remediation.
- Create and maintain required technical documentation to support the application infrastructure, design, development and testing.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Dev Ops, Info Sec, and Program Management
- Collaborate effectively and share knowledge with the scrum team and other teams within the portfolio as needed
- Communicate project status, risks, and blockers to stakeholders
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven experience with AWS services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, CDK/Cloud Formation) and Java/Spring Boot ecosystem
- Strong Angular experience; micro-frontend architecture (module federation) a plus
- Microservices architecture experience, including the strangler pattern for modernizing legacy applications
- Experience with observability tools (Cloud Watch, Grafana, Open Search)
- Proven technical leadership with cross-team collaboration
- Experience using development accelerator tools
