Overview

The Sr Benefits Analyst is a subject matter expert in Health and Welfare, Retirement, and Absence Management plans. This role drives cross‑functional projects from discovery through implementation. The ideal candidate combines total benefits expertise, enterprise systems acumen, and disciplined program leadership to shape strategy, strengthen governance and compliance, optimize design and operations across all benefit programs, elevate vendor performance, and deliver a seamless employee experience with measurable enterprise‑wide outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership Support & Benefits Representation:
    Provides strategic leadership by representing the Benefits (The 'Plan') function across key initiatives and ensuring alignment with Total Rewards and organizational goals. Leads high level assessments and requirements gathering to support informed decision making and guide cross functional collaboration.
  • Technical Operations & Process Optimization:
    Applies advanced technical expertise and independent judgment to diagnose and resolve complex issues across benefits systems and workflows. Performs root cause analysis on system or operational failures and implements corrective and preventive measures to strengthen stability, accuracy, and long‑term operational resilience.
  • Data Analytics & Insight Development:
    Prepares, analyzes, and interprets complex data (medical/Rx claims, utilization, eligibility, contributions, SLAs/fees, and trends) to inform Health & Welfare, Retirement and Absence Management, benefits operations, financial planning, and budgeting. Identifies performance trends, cost drivers, risk factors, and ROI to support strategic recommendations on plan design and ongoing optimization.
  • Financial Governance & Vendor Financial Management:
    Oversees financial governance for global benefits, including audits, reconciliations, vendor financial monitoring, and budget planning. Ensures accuracy, compliance, and fiscal integrity while aligning financial management with departmental and organizational strategies and cost optimization goals. Prepares and reports findings to Health and Welfare committee.
  • Workflow Optimization & Operational Efficiency Improvement:
    Leads the enhancement of all benefits administration and end‑to‑end operational processes (Health & Welfare, Retirement, and Absence Management) by identifying efficiency gaps, optimizing functional day‑to‑day processes, and driving automation opportunities. Partners with cross‑functional teams to streamline workflows, improve user experience, and ensure processes scale effectively with organizational needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Preferred
  • 5 years of experience in Exempt level experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in benefits - Preferred
  • 3 years of experience in Analytical, Compliance, Project Management Experience - Preferred
Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $59,220 to $93,060 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
