Commercial Project Manager – Tampa / St. Petersburg, FL
A highly respected Tampa/St Petersburg area commercial general contractor is in need of a Project Manager for their growing team.
This is an opportunity for a PM who knows how to take ownership of a project, build strong relationships with clients and subcontractors, and keep both the field and office moving in the same direction. You'll have the support and resources to be successful without layers of unnecessary bureaucracy slowing you down.
The company has a strong pipeline of commercial work throughout the Tampa Bay metro area and is looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the team.
What You'll Be DoingYou'll manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction and turnover through closeout, with responsibility for the financial health, schedule, communication, and overall success of your projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage projects from preconstruction through final completion
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost reports
- Lead subcontractor buyout, contract administration, and change management
- Work closely with Superintendents to keep field operations and project objectives aligned
- Manage RFIs, submittals, procurement, pay applications, and project documentation
- Maintain strong communication with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
- Identify potential issues early and drive solutions before they impact the project
- Lead owner and project meetings with confidence
- Maintain accountability for project profitability, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction
- Support and mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers as appropriate
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
- Proven experience managing commercial projects as a Project Manager
- Strong understanding of project financials, cost control, scheduling, subcontractor management, and contracts
- Ability to successfully partner with field leadership
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable making decisions
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but relevant construction experience is equally valued
