Infant assistant afternoon teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This position supports children’s social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth through intentional planning, positive interactions, and hands‑on learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Environment & Safety- Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom at all times.
- Ensure constant, active supervision of children; follow all health and safety regulations.
- Implement daily routines that support predictability, independence, and positive behavior.
- Plan and implement age‑appropriate lesson plans aligned with developmental milestones and program goals.
- Use a variety of learning strategies including play‑based learning, small‑group instruction, and hands‑on activities.
- Support language, literacy, math, science, and social‑emotional skills through intentional teaching.
- Promote positive behavior using developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.
- Support inclusion by adapting activities and instruction to meet individual needs.
- Observe and assess children’s development; document progress through notes, portfolios, or assessments.
- Build positive relationships with families through daily communication and ongoing updates.
- Maintain confidentiality of all child and family information.
- Work collaboratively with co‑teachers and staff to maintain a positive classroom climate.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and training as required.
- Follow all center policies, licensing guidelines, and reporting procedures.
- Prepare materials, set up learning centers, and assist with transitions.
- Assist with meals, toileting, diapering, handwashing, and other care routines as needed.
- Maintaining a clean, sanitized classroom at all times by following Treasure Kids Academy Mandatory Cleaning Checklist.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods; cleaning is a main job requirement.
- This position is Monday‑Friday (required) – NO WEEKENDS. Part‑time position 11:00‑6:30 or 2:00‑6:30.
- Must complete a Background Screening (Clearinghouse).
- Not required but must obtain within 90 days of employment – 45 Hours State Mandated Child Care Training Courses (must be on Training Transcript).
- (Not Required but a +) CDA, Associate’s Degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education.
- Not required – CPR/First Aid certification (must obtain within 90 days).
