Job Overview:The Low Voltage Project Manager owns the full lifecycle of low voltage and telecommunications projects from kick‑off call through close‑out. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal rework while maintaining Smart Choice standards of quality and customer satisfaction. The Project Manager coordinates with internal teams (Sales, Client Success, Dispatch, Field Engineer, and Staging), clients, general contractors, and vendors to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Hands‑on experience with structured cabling, wiring, and infrastructure projects is required. The manager reads site plans, validates site readiness, coordinates vendors, and proactively resolves issues to avoid timeline or customer impact.
- Manage end‑to‑end delivery of client onboardings, installations, site builds, relocations, and upgrades.
- Conduct on‑site site surveys and discovery calls; translate findings into actionable project plans.
- Serve as primary customer contact, responding to requests in a timely manner, including occasional after‑hours.
- Manage multiple low voltage projects from initiation through close‑out.
- Collaborate with sales and engineering teams during project handoff and execution.
- Coordinate scheduling, materials, labor, and resources for each project.
- Apply for and manage permits when required, ensuring no project delays due to compliance gaps.
- Read and interpret site diagrams, wiring schematics, and cabling layouts without assistance.
- Work closely with dispatch, field technicians, and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
- Track project progress daily, budgets, and timelines; adjust schedules and resources as needed to stay on track.
- Own issue resolution—track, follow up, and close out all installation and post‑installation issues.
- Create, assign, and manage tasks in project management systems (Asana preferred) with complete accuracy.
- Manage change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Oversee project billing, invoicing, and cost control.
- Maintain accurate records in project management tools (e.g., Asana or similar systems).
- Hold others accountable while maintaining professionalism.
- 3+ years of project management experience in UCaaS, VoIP, telecommunications, or related technical fields.
- Experience with cabling and large‑scale infrastructure projects, including coordinating low‑voltage vendors.
- Ability to read and interpret site diagrams, wiring diagrams, and structured cabling layouts.
- Experience managing multiple large projects in enterprise environments.
- Experience with phone carrier provisioning, including porting and routing.
- Experience provisioning clients and delivering end‑user training.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including WLAN, LAN, and WAN.
- PMP certification is a plus.
Education:
- 3–5+ years of experience in low voltage projects, UCaaS, VOIP, or telecommunications projects.
- Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage systems (structured cabling, AV, security systems, access control, etc.)
- Experience with cabling infrastructure: AV, Security and Low voltage.
- Experience managing mid‑size (10‑99 runs) to large‑scale (100+ runs) infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience reading floor plans, wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with software platforms such as Asana, Pro Core, Microsoft Office Suite.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with platforms such as Asana, Service Now, Pro Core, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of BICSI standards or other industry certifications, OSHA 10 & 30.
- Prior experience managing field technicians and subcontractors.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
