Overview
Lead the work that keeps essential infrastructure running. Pinellas County Utilities is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Technician 3 (EMT3) to take a leadership role in maintaining and improving one of the region’s critical wastewater treatment facilities. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who thrives on solving complex mechanical and electrical challenges, leading crews in the field, coordinating with contractors and engineers, and helping drive major infrastructure projects forward.

This Electrical/Mechanical Technician 3 (Project Scheduler - Wastewater Treatment Plant) position is located at: South Cross Bayou Advanced Wastewater Reclamation Facility (AWWRF) - 7401 54th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

- Lead and coordinate advanced electrical and mechanical maintenance activities in a wastewater treatment environment
- Serve as a lead worker and field representative for the Wastewater Plant Maintenance Supervisor
- Oversee contractors and collaborate with engineers on Capital Improvement Projects (CIP)
- Utilize Cityworks, GIS, and CMMS platforms for work order management, asset tracking, and preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, valves, controls, generators, and other plant equipment
- Train and support maintenance staff while promoting safe and efficient operations
- Help ensure regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and long-term asset performance
- High school diploma or GED plus 5 years of journeyman-level experience in wastewater electrical/mechanical maintenance; or
- Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational program plus 3 years of related journeyman experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience or training
- An equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience using CMMS systems such as Cityworks and GIS-based asset management software
- Ability to obtain a Florida Class A CDL within 1 year of hire
- 10+ years of wastewater maintenance experience
- FW&PCOA, AWWA, or related industry certifications
- Experience with Capital Improvement Projects and blueprint/specification review
