Quality Assurance Engineer – Leidos – Saint Petersburg, FL.
DescriptionThe EW Division of Leidos is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our cross‑functional engineering team to implement tools and processes to ensure Leidos’ key processes have robust plans to deliver first‑time quality to its customers. This person will investigate, evaluate, and resolve quality problems, conduct audits, coordinate with the supply chain, engage in the design, development and production processes of electronic systems.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Work with internal process owners and suppliers to develop manufacturing processes, build instructions, and oversee supplier production runs. Must understand Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and its purpose in an electronic system's product lifecycle.
- Serve as configuration manager of all technical data packages that reside onsite.
- Be familiar with the AS9100 standard and its purpose in an electronic system's product lifecycle.
- Support all aspects of electronic and mechanical assembly, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), through‑hole assembly, convection reflow, wave solder, hardware installation, cleaning, conformal coating, potting and box build.
- Perform process audits to ensure that Leidos and suppliers' QMS is maintained and process improvements are sustained.
- Support the supply chain through analysis of alternate electrical components and commodity management. Understanding of component obsolescence standards, processes, and mitigation.
- BA/BS in Engineering and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience (additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree).
- Experience working with an electronic contract manufacturer of complex electro-mecanical systems.
- Possess knowledge and experience with the manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance of electro-mecanical systems and/or Printed Circuit Boards of varying complexities.
- Direct knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain logistics from raw material to finished goods.
- Must have an active Secret security clearance, or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO
9001:2015. - Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship and soldering standards.
- The ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and quickly resolve quality problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity.
- Solid organizational skills, ability to work and interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Must have product electronic manufacturing experience. Understanding of printed circuit board, circuit card assembly, box build manufacturing processes.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently, customer service orientated.
- US Citizenship required.
