As Operations Reliability Engineering Manager for Production, you will own the reliability of New Glenn, Engines, and Lunar Permanence factory operations. You will lead a hands‑on engineering team that develops and improves manufacturing processes, hardens critical tooling and equipment, and eliminates recurring production issues that impact launch rate, safety, and cost.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of Operations Reliability Engineers (ORE) embedded in production value streams.
- Own the reliability roadmap for production processes, tooling, and GSE that materially affect production rate and vehicle risk.
- Use downtime, delay, scrap, and rework data to identify high‑risk processes and prioritize improvement work.
- Direct root cause and corrective action for significant production events; ensure fixes are systemic and verified.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations to design, validate, and roll out process, work instruction, and tooling changes.
- Define and maintain requirements, acceptance criteria, checkouts, and maintenance strategies for critical factory equipment.
- Track and communicate a small set of reliability and flow metrics for production; drive continuous improvement against them.
- B.S. degree in engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in manufacturing, test, or operations engineering in a complex hardware environment.
- 2+ years leading engineers or technical teams.
- Demonstrated experience improving process/tooling reliability, uptime, or throughput.
- Ability to work daily on the shop floor and collaborate closely with technicians and supervisors.
- Experience in aerospace integration and refurbishment.
- Familiarity with reliability and operational excellence tools and processes (e.g. FMEA, FRACAS, SPC)
- Proven track record of driving cross‑functional change and closing recurring issues.
- Ability to support off‑shift or weekend work during critical builds or investigations.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
