Engineer II

Responsibilities for this position include applying standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies. The role also involves analyzing, developing, and evaluating systems, improving and maintaining current systems or creating brand new projects, and designing and drafting blueprints while managing projects.

The general profile of this position requires working knowledge and experience in the job discipline, continuing to build knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. It involves performing a range of assignments related to the job discipline, using prescribed guidelines or policies in analyzing situations, receiving a moderate level of guidance and direction, and consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.

Essential functions include applying engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies; analyzing, developing, and evaluating systems; improving and maintaining current systems or creating brand new projects; designing and drafting blueprints, visiting systems in the field, and managing projects; and applying engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.

Required qualifications include an associate's degree and 2-4 years of experience, an engineering degree, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial technology, or chemical engineering; oral and written communication skills; critical thinking skills; problem-solving skills; mathematical skills; technical expertise; experience within chemical manufacturing or the defense industry; experience in the energetic materials field;

and understanding of the design and composition of existing products and engineering/business processes and principles.

Physical requirements include the ability to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time, regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities, and working inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.
