Sr Manager, Engineering

Job Summary

Provides strategic technical oversight and leadership for complex DoD ammunition production programs. This role ensures end-to-end technical excellence across business capture, production support, ballistic test validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and design and development activities. The Sr. Manager is accountable for delivering compliant, on-schedule products while resolving technical challenges to maintain safety, quality, and all contractual requirements. In addition, this position delivers advanced technical support for high-visibility program efforts by developing, applying, and guiding the use of sophisticated engineering theories, methodologies, and research techniques.

• Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
• Decisions and problem solving are guided by policies, procedures and department plan; receives guidance from manager

• Analyzes, develops, and evaluates systems as well as improving and maintaining current systems or creating brand new projects.
• Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.
• Recommends operational plans with direct impact on results.
• Requires communication with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance, i.e., Constructing and presenting status briefings on technical challenges.
• Works with third party resources, site leadership and other necessary departments to bring comprehensive solutions for operations, production, or maintenance issues related to local production or test failures.

• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 7-8 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology or Chemical Engineering.
• Discipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business or Engineering preferred
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Ability to foster teamwork. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills. Technical expertise.
• Experience with in chemical manufacturing and/or the defense industry highly desired.
• Experience in energetic materials field.
• Strong engineering skills and understanding of the design and composition of most existing products and engineering/business processes and principles.

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• May be requested to work a different shift.
