Job Title

Director of Ammunition Production

Provides strategic technical oversight and leadership for complex DoD ammunition production programs. This role ensures end-to-end technical excellence across business capture, production support, ballistic test validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and design and development activities. The Director is accountable for delivering compliant, on-schedule products while resolving technical challenges to maintain safety, quality, and all contractual requirements. In addition, this position delivers advanced technical support for high-visibility program efforts by developing, applying, and guiding the use of sophisticated engineering theories, methodologies, and research techniques.

• Provides leadership to managers and may also have professional staff.
• Must have at least one manager level direct report
• Is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams
• Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
• Decisions are guided by resource availability and organizational objectives
• Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment

• Manages the engineering function of an organization, including duties associated with planning engineering programs, reviewing design and method recommendations, purchasing equipment, and ensuring that engineering activities align with organizational objectives.
• Administers operations in accordance with company's policies, priorities, and budget constraints set forth by senior management.
• Implements effective engineering methods and provides technical guidance and acts as a resource for engineers.
• Ensures components, materials, and tools are used to capacity.
• Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.

• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology or Chemical Engineering.
• Discipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business or Engineering preferred
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Ability to foster teamwork. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills. Technical expertise.
• Experience with in chemical manufacturing and/or the defense industry highly desired.
• Experience in energetic materials field.
• Strong engineering skills and understanding of the design and composition of most existing products and engineering/business processes and principles.

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

Up to 25% travel likely.
