The Opportunity

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering (CME) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I / II to support the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical and electro-mechanical products used in aerospace, defense, industrial, and energy applications.

This is a hands-on role for an early-career engineer who enjoys solving design problems, working across disciplines, and seeing products move from concept through manufacturing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, and electro-mechanical systems
  • Create and update 3D models, drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation
  • Use Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools
  • Apply basic DFM/DFA, GD&T, materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing principles
  • Support prototype builds, testing, qualification, and production
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical issues and help identify root causes
  • Work with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers
  • Research components, materials, and design alternatives
  • Support engineering changes, configuration control, and technical documentation
  • Assist with environmental and qualification testing, including applicable MIL-STD requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerancing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, test hardware, and manufacturing teams
  • Accelerated life testing
  • Electro-mechanical packaging
  • Ruggedized electronics packaging
  • Cable, connector, and wiring integration
  • ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint
  • Supplier and supply chain technical support
  • Manufacturing automation and Industry 4.0 technologies

Experience with
GD&T, DFM/DFA, machining, sheet metal, welding, thermal or structural analysis, MIL-STD testing, or electro-mechanical packaging is a plus.

Minimum

Requirements Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or another related field; MS degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of related experience in mechanical design of electronic & electrical products, components, subassemblies, and finished goods
