This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
CMM Programmer/InspectorAs part of a small, accomplished team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will plan, source, and shepherd the physical build of functioning prototypes that impact Blue Origin technology efforts. In the role of CMM Programmer / Inspection you will develop and execute inspection methods, both programmed and manual, to support development and prototype projects within the SWORD Prototype Group.
This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving prototype environment, takes individual ownership of the outcome, knows that progress on real hardware beats a perfect plan on paper, and is eager to leverage their deep manufacturing and material sourcing experience
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Provide actionable inspection and validation feedback to design, engineering, and manufacturing through entire product lifecycle, and bridge product intent with the appropriate GD&T and methods to inspect
- Prepare plans & programs, setup, and execute inspection plans and methods to inspect hardware, utilizing manual and Computer Aided Inspection systems, such as but not including: CMM, optical comparators, vision systems, laser trackers/scanners, etc.
- Manage equipment calibration
- Program,setupand operate CMM and other computer aided systems
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Provide feedback to machinists and engineers with dimensional data.
- Document Non-Conformance reports as required.
- Provide inspection time estimates.
- Process improvement including inspection cycle time reductions.
- Maintain configuration control on files and job records.
- Safely workwithinan industrial environment.
- Affinity for and demonstrated success in a fast-moving, dynamic, and evolving manufacturing environment and team
- Demonstrated success in being customer-centric and actively facilitating solutions with minimal direction
- A minimum of10years of experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components, bladed hardwareor equivalent.
- A minimum of 7 years in CMM programming and operation
- A minimum of 7 years in high-mix, low volume machining environment
- Demonstrated success in bridging the gap between design intent, DFx, and application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009 standards
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in the use of precision hand tools, gages, optical comparator, and surface plate work.
- Experience inspecting tight tolerance, high value components.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO
9000 Quality Management Systems and/or related quality systems and programs
- NX and Creo experience
- Model Based Engineering experience per ASME Y14.41-2012.
- Siemens product life cycle systems
- Advanced machining knowledge.
- Design for Manufacturability and Producibility knowledge.
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight-critical hardware.
- Experience in Tooling design reviews to address tooling and component manufacturability on flight hardware ensuring compliance with ASME requirements.
- Experience in PC-DMIS, and QUINDOS, Spatial Analyzer
