This position is responsible for the overall direction, management, integration, and implementation of all key operational finance functions to support the Regulated & Renewable Energy (RRE) Florida Operations from a functional and jurisdictional basis. The annual total business unit expenditure for this position is approximately $500 million in operations and maintenance (O&M) and capital, supporting a diverse portfolio of generating stations with an aggregate capacity of roughly 13,000 MW within the Duke Energy Florida jurisdiction.

The generating stations cover a broad range of technologies, including natural gas combined cycle and combustion turbine sites, coal generation, solar, battery, and cogeneration. The incumbent must understand the financial implications of the differences between these technologies. In addition, this position is required to be well‑versed in complex regulatory financial compliance and will be called upon to assist with regulatory filings and other discussions with Rates and Regulatory, RRE Florida Operations witnesses as well as internal/external attorneys and their staffs related to achievement of cost management objectives for Florida.

In addition, this position will have financial oversight for complex expenditures that are part of the Florida Environmental Cost Recovery Clause (ECRC), a bi‑annual reporting/filing that requires justification of prudent spend and the Long‑Term Service Agreements (LTSA) entered into for multiple Combined Cycle generation stations to ensure the most economic cost associated with periodic outages. Regulatory knowledge includes familiarity with rate making fundamentals, frequent filings and updates required in Florida (e.g., ECRC Fuel Adjustment Filings and Storm damage Recovery clause).

Additionally, this position will serve as a key interface with the Duke Energy Legal and Rates department to support regulatory filings to the Florida Utilities and Regulatory Commission as it relates to power generation activities in Florida.

• Responsible for all planning & management of work related to RRE Florida overall cost management and financial analysis, including budget development, cost analysis, cost reporting and projection tracking for all key operational finance functions to support the assigned organization.
• Provide planning & management oversight for the monthly close process including the review of accruals and all other journal entries, month and year‑to‑date variance analysis, and internal management reports.
• Research any technical accounting issues and work with Asset Accounting on any capital inquiries.
• Oversee all financial data requests for ad‑hoc reporting, allocation of costs, rate case, internal and external requests, and audit inquiries.
• Responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of O&M and Capital projections (Monthly, Quarterly & Year End).
• Manage and produce consolidated monthly departmental & jurisdictional reporting for VP's.
• Expected to serve as finance representative at jurisdictional or departmental meetings.
• Provide oversight and guidance at VP cost management financial oversight meetings.
• Provides strategic direction and functional support for the RRE Florida Region and Finance department efforts.
• These efforts include defining success, aligning staff to provide most effective support, and developing an effective business partner interface approach.
