Headquartered in Burlington, Vermont, One Day In July is a rapidly growing investment firm committed to disrupting the financial industry with a focus on reducing fees and improving portfolio performance for investors. We are hiring a financial advisor to service clients out of our St.

Petersburg, FL location.

One Day In July provides investment management and fiduciary advice, generally focused on index funds, to clients across the United States. We assist clients by assessing their existing asset portfolios and providing them actionable recommendations.

Job Description

As a Financial Advisor, you will be responsible for helping the firm onboard new clients and manage existing client relationships. You will be working directly with clients. Working closely with our Investment Desk, you will review unique investment situations and rebalance accounts. You will utilize proprietary software and construct spreadsheets. You must be an organized person. Note that the financial industry involves significant paperwork.

You need to have a Series 65 or equivalent set of licenses in order to perform this role.

This position offers ample opportunity for growth, making it an ideal fit for candidates looking to expand their knowledge and pursue a new challenge.

In this role, you will:
  • Work directly with new and existing clients.
  • Analyze client asset allocations.
  • Look to reduce client taxes incurred.
  • Process paperwork and other client requests.
  • Give each client situation careful attention and scrutiny.
  • Work with the Investment Desk to coordinate trading and rebalancing.
  • Utilize CRM to carefully manage client portfolios and keep detailed records.
  • Answer questions and help train new advisors and staff members.
  • Help close leads from new prospects who have contacted us about joining the firm. You will not be expected to perform high-volume telephone outreach. Engagement with and outreach to prospective clients and the broader community is essential.
  • When you bring in clients on your own, there is a generous commission for doing so. (Note that we are fiduciaries. Only clients pay us, and they can see clearly what they pay. This is NOT a commission for selling products.)
  • Plan, set up, and attend occasional offsite events. You must have reliable transportation and a willingness to travel, along with the ability to transport supplies to and from events.
Qualifications
  • You hold a Series 65 or equivalent set of licenses.
  • 2+ years of experience as a financial advisor working with clients. (If you are interested in becoming a financial advisor but lack industry experience, consider the Client Services Associate position at One Day In July. This can put you on track to becoming a financial advisor.)
  • Be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Have an interest in investing, finance, and economics.
  • Possess a positive attitude, tremendous grit, and the ability to prioritize.
  • Enjoy cultivating and managing long-term relationships with clients.
  • Be skilled at developing trust with clients.
  • Maintain a high standard for client service, attention to detail, and documentation.
  • Be proactive: identify opportunities and problems and take them to the next level without being asked.
  • Be able to “wear multiple hats” and quickly adapt to changing priorities.
  • Focus on processes and controls with the ability to assess risk.
  • Have a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Share our firm’s mission and investment philosophy of lowering fees and espousing the value of diversified, low-cost index funds.
What's in it for you?
  • One Day In July is a rapidly growing investment firm. If you have the drive to learn and execute effectively, there is significant room for growth and advancement.
  • Feel great about offering an honest, transparent solution to Floridians, and Americans trying to save for retirement. One Day…
