Job duties and requirements reflect a crisis-intervention, multi-disciplinary practice with focus on evidence-based, client-centered care and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities- Be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team that includes staff from other organizations. Use effective, non-judgmental communication to respond to crisis events and to establish and update program practices.
- Be trained in and utilize crisis de-escalation as needed.
- Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner: complete all client documents and progress notes on schedule; complete pre-tests/post-tests and outcome measures on the appropriate schedule; maintain current Treatment Plans on all clients and complete Treatment Plan Reviews as scheduled; complete closing paperwork promptly.
- Provide family and individual therapy that is solution-focused and competency-based. Assess and document client symptomatology, diagnosis, interventions, and progress in a timely, accurate manner that meets agency standards. Assess client needs related to level of care required.
- Remain current on Medicaid Guidelines and maintain all cases in compliance with Medicaid Guidelines.
- Remain current on JWB Guidelines and maintain all cases in compliance with JWB Guidelines.
- Remain current on CFBHN Guidelines and maintain all cases in compliance with CFBHN Guidelines.
- Accept on-call rotation among Mobile Crisis Staff, managing calls in a supportive manner to ensure client and staff safety and to encourage families to increase self-sufficiency.
- Keep accurate records of caseloads and manage data for measurable objectives.
- Assist in quarterly and annual agency reports and reports for JWB and CFBHN.
- Report all risks to supervisor and complete risk notes and safety plans as appropriate.
- Consult with colleagues and supervisor regarding cases.
- Make appropriate referrals for clients as needed; prioritize least restrictive and community-based referrals first, and record referrals on the referral log and closing/transfer summary.
- Participate fully in weekly supervision with program manager; review treatment techniques, case progress, and job performance.
- Participate fully in weekly program meetings and bi-weekly group supervision.
- Accomplish individual annual goals.
- Complete the Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) 6-month checklist within the first 6 months of employment.
- Use the ORS and SRS with all clients within 6 months of employment and enter scores in the Open Fit electronic system.
- Understand that using FIT measures will be part of the employee’s performance evaluation. The ORS and SRS scores will not be monitored as part of the evaluation; only the use of the measures will be evaluated.
Education: Master’s degree required in social work, family therapy, or closely related field; may be licensed as a clinical social worker, family therapist, or mental health counselor.
Licensure: Licensure is not required; license eligible required.
ExperienceRecommended minimum two years of experience in the mental health field. Must be strength- and resiliency-based in approach. Ability to work competently with diverse cultural backgrounds. Competent in working with clients with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. Must be able to assist families dealing with multiple stressors. Understanding of the special problems and treatment of consumers with mental illness and child welfare issues is essential.
Understanding of community resources and social support development is required.
Must be 21 years of age.

Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.
Background and Licensing: Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License; motor vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment, along with a reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance.
Must be in compliance with Florida laws and administrative codes, including fingerprinting, and determined to be of good moral character.
Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to Suncoast Center. Must provide proof of automobile liability insurance. Requires both indoor and outdoor work with outreach to off-site locations. Exposure to heat and humidity during summer months. Schedule may be irregular based on client availability and emergencies. Work is primarily off-site in client family homes and community locations.
