ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County.

Boley Centers has an opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to provide leadership for, and carry responsibility for managing comprehensive health and safety program for Boley Centers. Provides hands-on task performance and support related to all aspects of health and safety inspections and safety drills. Gathers and reports on health and safety data. Leads Health & Safety Committee for organization.

Participates in functions. related to staff education initiatives, including education delivery. Participates in processes related to regulatory and accreditation compliance. Assist with aspects related to risk management and incident. reporting as assigned.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages health and safety program for the organization.
  • Collects, reviews, stores required safety documentation related to inspections and drills and ensures compliance and accountability from Area Safety Coordinator (ASC) team members.
  • Coordinates, trains, and supports ASCs in performing health and safety assessments and required safety drills.
  • Maintains and updates all safety program documentation, schedules, and documentation forms, including coordinating collection of required documentation in accordance with established guidelines and time frames.
  • Conducts health and safety inspections and drills.
  • Incorporates regulatory and accreditation guidelines and requirements into program structure and decision making, stays up to-date on requirements, and seeks guidance from leadership where needed.
  • Maintains an office and area that is clean, safe, and free of potential safety hazards.
  • Models desired health and safety behaviors to Boley Centers' employees.
Committees:
  • Leads all aspects of Boley Centers' Safety Committee.
  • Coordinates and facilitates regularly scheduled (minimum quarterly) Safety Committee meetings.
  • Prepares agendas and minutes for committees and meetings.
  • Provides regular updates to Leadership and other forums as requested related to Safety Committee findings and advisements.
Data and Reporting:
  • Performs accurate and timely data entry related to health and safety as requested.
  • Completes required reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists with health and safety data tracking.
  • Assists with data gathering and reporting related to safety incidents, internal inspections, emergency drills.
  • Assists with quarterly and annual reports in relation to health and safety measures and strategic planning.
  • Organizes, researches, and evaluates special projects as assigned.
  • Assists with management of stakeholder survey processes and associated data related to health and safety.
  • Other data gathering and reporting duties as assigned.
Documentation:
  • Assists in preparing reports related to health and safety.
  • Assists in the development of forms for the collection of health and safety data.
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned.
Accreditation and Audits:
  • Assists with accreditation preparations and survey participation related to health and safety requirements.
  • Participates in presentation of health and safety information and documentation.
Staff Relations and Development:
  • Assists with staff development in-services related to Health and Safety activities including new employee orientation and annual training.
  • Displays professional conduct with all staff and customers in all interactions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in health sciences, healthcare administration, or related field preferred. Education must be from an accredited school, college, or university. Extensive experience could be substituted for educational requirements if deemed appropriate.

Experience with health and safety in healthcare and human services environments;
Conducting health and safety inspections and drills;
Training and supporting others with health and safety behaviors;
Comfortable delivering presentations;
Experience in leadership of teams. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Regulatory knowledge as pertains to health and safety in healthcare and human services environments.

KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation in order to prepare documents and all types of other correspondence.
  • Knowledge of data management techniques.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic math & statistics.
  • Knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Outlook, Avatar, virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective positive, productive working relationships with staff and public.
  • Ability to respond in a courteous, pleasant manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently on directed tasks, with effective time management to meet deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change.
