Position SummaryThe Moxy St. Petersburg Downtown, a vibrant, stylish Marriott Bonvoy hotel embodying the brand's signature playful and social vibe, with hip, modern rooms and amenities, is seeking a hands‑on Talent & Culture Manager to oversee all human resources operations for this dynamic, high‑energy property. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role handles day‑to‑day HR functions including job postings, on‑boarding, payroll, compliance, employee relations, benefits support, and team engagement initiatives to support smooth hotel operations and a positive workplace.
ResponsibilitiesOn-boarding & Employee Integration
- Lead new hire on‑boarding programs, including orientation, paperwork completion, training setup, uniform issuance, and first‑week check‑ins to help new team members integrate quickly and effectively.
- Ensure all new hires complete required compliance forms (I‑9, tax withholding, etc.).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, or issues; address them promptly and fairly to maintain a respectful and supportive work environment.
- Handle routine disciplinary matters, investigations, and conflict resolution in line with company policies.
- Support the "We Are Wurzak" culture by organizing team‑building activities, recognition programs, employee events, and morale‑boosting initiatives suited to a fast‑paced hotel setting.
- Administer employee satisfaction surveys and feedback processes; implement simple action plans to improve retention.
- Coordinate performance reviews, goal‑setting, and coaching conversations with department leaders.
- Track performance documentation and support improvement plans as needed.
- Process accurate and timely payroll using Paychex HRIS, including time tracking, overtime, tips (where applicable), deductions, and garnishments.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (wage/hour, tip reporting, OSHA, etc.), and stay updated on relevant regulations to minimize risks.
- Maintain accurate employee records and handle audits as required.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, questions, and explanations (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.); support open enrollment periods.
- Facilitate clear communication between employees and management through meetings, memos, bulletin boards, and other channels to keep the team informed and connected.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of experience in a human resources role, ideally in hospitality or a service‑oriented industry.
- Marriot brand experience preferred.
- Hands‑on payroll processing experience required (Paychex or similar HRIS preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning/using HR systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced hotel environment.
- Knowledge of hospitality‑specific HR practices (e.g., tip compliance, seasonal staffing) is a plus.
