Tableau Developer

SUMMARY

Supports one or more areas of Tableau development and Tableau server administration including program management, design analysis, documentation of business needs, and adoption. Serves as a liaison between end-users and IT to identify, communicate, and execute requirements.

• Manages the Tableau Server environment(s) and site(s), builds and publishes interactive dashboards, and consults with all internal IT teams to ensure a stable, well‑designed, highly available, and properly maintained infrastructure.
• Administers and supports Tableau infrastructure; creates and manages groups, workbooks, projects, database views, data sources, and data connections.
• Utilizes SQL and data storage techniques to retrieve data from multiple sources.
• Leads Tableau activities including application and program initiatives by overseeing business needs and development requirements for enhancements and modifications.
• Collaborates with internal users and external vendors to translate corporate/functional business and information objectives into a strategic or tactical business plan.
• Evaluates, facilitates, and manages meetings with key stakeholders to review and map existing practices, identifying efficiencies attainable through process alignment and improvements.
• Designs, maintains, and enforces Tableau best practices and governance policies.

Education and/or

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of IT software development or program leadership experience, software business analysis, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Designations: Tableau Certification. PMI Project Management (CAPM or PMP desired), IIBA Business Analyst, CBAP preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Develop, maintain, and manage advanced Tableau reporting, analytics, and dashboard content.
• Proficient with SQL and relational databases for dashboard development.
• Maintain, support, and upgrade a Tableau server environment.
• Understand principles, practices, and procedures for business needs and requirements analysis.
• Analyze data sets and document business processes.
• Multi‑task and remain flexible when priorities or work direction change.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Explain technical concepts in non‑technical terms to customers and staff.
• Organize work for timely completion.
• Speak, write, read, and understand English.
• Follow complex oral and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships, influencing and building consensus.
• Skill in Microsoft Office applications.
• Commute with personal transportation and travel up to 25% of the time.
