Purchasing Director

CAN Community Health, a mission-driven nonprofit leader in HIV, hepatitis C, and STI care, is seeking a Purchasing Director to oversee our organization-wide procurement strategy. In this role, you will design and manage a cost-effective, compliant, and reliable purchasing program that supports clinics and partnerships across the U.S. You will lead vendor selection and contract negotiations, optimize inventory and supply chain processes, and collaborate with clinical, finance, and operations teams to forecast needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead organization-wide purchasing and sourcing strategy aligned with clinical and financial goals.
• Manage vendor selection, evaluation, and relationships to ensure quality, cost-effective, and timely supply of goods and services.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service levels, ensuring legal, ethical, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee purchasing operations, including requisitions, approvals, and purchase orders across clinics and partner sites.
• Monitor inventory levels, usage trends, and supply chain risks to prevent stockouts and reduce waste.
• Collaborate with clinical, finance, and operations leaders to forecast needs and support program growth.
• Establish and track KPIs, analyze spend data, and identify opportunities for savings and process improvement.
• Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing staff, fostering a mission-driven, collaborative culture.
• Implement and optimize procurement technology and standardized processes across locations.
• Ensure adherence to organizational policies and applicable healthcare regulations in all purchasing activities.
