The Laboratory Technician, Product Development plays a key role in the timely development of new pharmaceutical products using Softgel formulation and process technologies. As part of the Product Development team, this role supports the full project lifecycle, including bench‑scale development, feasibility and registration batches, stability studies, and process validation support. The position also contributes to gap and risk assessments, implementation of process analytical technology (PAT), and overall support of product development activities.
Responsibilities- Maintain, clean, and organize laboratory instruments, equipment, and work areas in compliance with departmental procedures.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including glassware, chemicals, reagents, raw materials, consumables, and media used in pre‑formulation and formulation activities.
- Prepare reagents, standards, media, laboratory fill mixes, and gel swatches to support development and testing activities.
- Set up, operate, and clean laboratory equipment such as isolators, mixers, encapsulation machines, and coating pans.
- Support formulation activities including solubility and compatibility samples, drying studies, and laboratory batch preparation and packaging.
- Perform routine laboratory testing and measurements, document results in approved records, and maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
- Follow SOPs, handle hazardous materials appropriately, support sample shipments, assist with training as needed, and perform additional assigned duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferably with some college coursework in related sciences.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and documentation skills, with working knowledge of MS Word and Excel and experience using laboratory and analytical equipment preferred.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, perform physical activities including standing, walking, reaching, lifting up to 40 pounds (no lifting over 44.09 pounds without assistance), and comply with laboratory, manufacturing, and gowning requirements.
- Vision:
Ability to read written documents and computer monitors, differentiate color, and maintain 20/30 vision with or without corrective lenses; able to work extended or off‑hours as required.
