SUMMARY:

Performs all jobs relating to the Machine Shop Deburr/Finishing Department.

Hiring for 2nd Shift Metal Finisher - 2:30PM - 10:30PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The metal finisher performs the following duties on a wide range of products and equipment. Work is performed under supervision by the department Lead.

  • Follow job schedule to perform bench operations to polish and remove burrs from a variety of machined and fabricated parts
  • Assist Floor Supervisor with the assignment of jobs to the Finishing Department’s personnel
  • Create tools to increase efficiency of part finishing
  • Reading and interpreting blue prints
  • Manual polishing and metal finishing
  • Powered device use for polishing and metal finishing including dremels, sanders, drills, grinders and other tools to complete parts
  • Use of special tools to remove burrs from critical areas
  • Inspect own work, correct or report detected discrepancies to supervisor
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
  • Maintain necessary records. Move materials in the performance of duties or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor
  • It is every employee’s responsibility to be aware of and adhere to the applicable Safety & Health, Quality and Environmental Process of the Company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Experience with Metal Finishing
  • Trade school, technical school, or military education preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to learn to perform the job assignments
  • Ability to read or learn to read Blue Prints
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
