Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety

Position SummaryThe Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and stakeholders. This position will lead safety initiatives, investigate incidents, conduct audits, provide training, and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety requirements. The Safety Manager serves as a key resource for facility leadership, driving continuous improvement in workplace safety and fostering a culture where safety is a core value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain facility safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct safety training and onboarding for employees and contractors.
- Lead incident and accident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate workplace conditions to identify hazards and recommend corrective measures.
- Maintain compliance with permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit safety reports as required by regulatory agencies, company leadership, and insurance providers.
- Analyze safety metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support and facilitate safety committee meetings and follow up on action items.
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures and preparedness plans.
- Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout procedures, job hazard analyses, and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with operational and maintenance teams to improve overall facility safety performance.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to supervisors and employees on safety matters.
- Respond professionally to inquiries from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate safety records and training documentation.
- Recommend safety improvements and best practices to reduce risk and enhance performance.
- Support facility operations by troubleshooting safety concerns and assisting with corrective action planning.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration across all departments.
- Complete all required corporate and facility training within established time frames.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of six (6) years of health and safety experience in an industrial, power generation, waste management, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or a related field. Professional safety certifications are a plus.
