This role is vital in providing the "paper trail" required for customer audits and regulatory certifications.

In addition, you will be performing production First Article Inspection Reports to send to customers for Product “first piece” Verification per AS9102C requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • BOM Verification:
Audit Bill of Materials for accuracy, ensuring wire gauges, jacket types (e.g., UL 1015), and tinned copper specifications are correctly documented.
  • Regulatory Reporting:
Prepare and submit documentation for Agency Compliance (UL, CSA, ETL) and maintain certificates of conformance for outbound shipments.
  • Test Data Management:
Collect and archive results from electrical, functional, and visual inspections, ensuring full traceability of raw materials and finished lots.
  • Change Control:
Manage Document Change Orders (DCOs) and ensure revised procedures are distributed to the production inspection immediately.
  • Audit Readiness:
Assist in internal and external quality audits by organizing and retrieving critical compliance records on demand.
  • Validate In‑Process & Final Inspections:
Perform visual and dimensional checks on final cables and verifying product meets customer specifications.
  • Validate Electrical & Mechanical Testing reports:
Review continuity, resistance, and high‑potential (Hi‑Pot) test reports, and review tensile and elongation test reports on insulation and jacketing materials.
  • Raw Material Validation:
Inspect incoming receipts of copper, compounds, and shielding materials against Certificates of Analysis (COA) to ensure they meet procurement specs.
  • Use Calibration Equipment:
Operate and perform routine inspections using calibrated measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and laser micrometers.
  • Review Customer Quotes and Flowdowns:
Review customer drawings, specifications, and Quality flowdowns to ensure customer requirements are captured in Quality documents.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
  • Experience:

2+ years of document control or quality systems experience, ideally in a wire and cable or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Technical/Compliance Knowledge:
Basic understanding of J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards or UL/CSA labeling requirements is a significant plus.
  • Software

    Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using an ERP system (e.g., Epicor) or Electronic Document Management System (1

    Factory, Net-Inspect).
  • Soft Skills:

Exceptional attention‑to‑detail and the ability to communicate technical data clearly to both engineering and production teams.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include standing or walking on the production floor for 4–6 hours daily to verify records.
