ResponsibilitiesJob Description
- Perform routine and specialized security tasks following established procedures.
- Exercise sound judgment and act independently in various situations.
- Resolve most issues autonomously; elevate unusual or complex matters to security leadership.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and high level of engagement with all stakeholders.
- Provide first responder assistance (first aid, CPR, AED, etc.) as needed.
- Respond as dispatched or requested to incidents on campus.
- Prepare a variety of reports.
- Investigate and present cases to law enforcement and state attorney for prosecution.
- Support an in-house proprietary security force.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment specific to armed security duties, to include a radio, baton, handcuffs, handgun, and other firearms and weapons as required.
- Assist with special events.
- Assist and cooperate with law enforcement and other security departments.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- State and local laws and ordinances.
- Investigation and interrogation techniques.
- Evidence collection and crime scene preservation.
- Ability to recognize and handle security threats and other emergency situations.
- Acts of terrorism, bomb threats, theft, sabotage and workplace violence.
- Security and fire safety systems used in corporate facilities.
- Dangerous substances and devices.
- Life safety codes and standards.
- Communications and behavioral analysis.
- Identifying and responding to fire, theft, vandalism and other acts of crime detrimental to life and property.
- Identifying and investigating unusual activities and unsafe conditions.
- Traffic and parking control.
- Responding to medical emergencies.
- Using radios and other communication equipment.
- Performing routine inspections of buildings and grounds.
- Using standard office equipment and security software applications.
- Handle difficult individuals and situations with the highest level of customer service.
- Recommend additions and/or changes in security methods and procedures to management to ensure the overall security of personnel and facilities.
- Evaluate and respond to threats in the workplace.
- Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.
- Prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Maintain proficiency with their issued firearm and current with all required licenses.
- Lift up to 20 pounds.
- Associate Degree or equivalent and a minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in law enforcement or military police.
- OR ~
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training approved by Human Resources.
- Valid driver’s license required
- CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 120 days after hire.
- State of Florida
