Software Engineer II – BMC2 Capabilities Engineering Organization
Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our software development team located onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. The position requires an active and transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Responsibilities- Participate in the requirements, design, development, and testing of embedded software, including application, middleware, operating system, and supporting tools.
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
- Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
- Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks to validate software functionality, performance, and security across embedded targets and simulated environments.
- Design, build, and maintain complex CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git Lab CI, or Git Hub Actions.
- Operate in a collaborative SAFe Agile environment.
- Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, and the software development life cycle.
- Experience with C++, Python, and object‑oriented software design.
- Hands‑on experience developing automated tests for embedded or software systems, such as unit, integration, or system‑level testing.
- Active and transferable Interim Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance required prior to start date.
- Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- Experience developing software in a team‑based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, Dev Sec Ops , and test automation.
- Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with the Conan package manager for C++.
- Experience working with large, complex software systems and refactoring legacy code.
- Experience writing software for and debugging issues in real‑time multithreaded software applications.
- Competitive salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
